birds and beads

Two little parcels waiting on my doorstep. A gift all the way from my dear friend Brenda in England included this gorgeous beaded bracelet. I do so love the earthy colours. The sweet pair of Serins a little treat for myself...aren't they just adorable?

raindrops keep falling...

Although this afternoon they have disappeared to allow a beautiful rainbow to peep through the clouds along with the last of the day's sunshine. Miss Molly and I have been out for a lovely walk...admired the rejuvenated neighbourhood gardens and breathed in the fresh air. My how the flowers adore the rain!

in the raw

Ready to pop in the oven...a sweet treat for the afternoon. Made with the help of my little cooking 'bible' - The Edmonds Cookery Book. One of the first things given to me by my beautiful Mum to add to my 'glory' box - I wouldn't be without it!

This little treat is a sultana cake, a perfect accompaniment to a warm cup of tea on a cool winters afternoon.

yesterday...

my darling Dad gave me the last of his glorious hydrangeas...the most gorgeous, most vibrant blue. My hydrangeas come in various shades of pink, like those above from earlier this year, or like this one. It means I have the best of both worlds...vases and jugs of both around the house!

For now these gorgeous shrubs will be pruned back...to hibernate and rejuvenate over winter. To begin anew, to bring delight to future tomorrows...

goodnight moon

goodnight little house
goodnight mouse
goodnight stars
goodnight air
goodnight noises everywhere

Childhood memories, so strong it's as though it was only yesterday. This little book 'Goodnight Moon' is extra special...the original, at my parent's home (somewhere safe I'm sure, yet hidden for the time being!). So simple and yet it lulled me into slumber night after night and helped me with my fear of the darkness. I'm back being that little girl...surrounded by only the love a mother and father can give...safe and sound with the stars and the moon watching over me.

a celebration...

for my dear friend Karen. And such a treat...high tea with views across the Pacific Ocean. Quite perfect except for the absence of Audra, struck down with a nasty cold. We'll do it again soon Audra...promise!

dreaming of paris

...of walking through the gardens of Montmartre; of holding my breath at the beauty of the street musicians; admiring the work of talented artists...simply taking in the pleasures that exploring such a charming city brings. Maybe it's wanting to know more of my heritage...of yearning to place my grandmother in her birthplace in a bygone era. Maybe it's trying to capture the heart and soul, style and beauty of the city of love. Maybe, it's all of that and more...

Maybe I might visit Pia's enchanting blog once more...

holiday reading

Sneaking a peek into the lovely homes of others is always so much fun...oh the ideas and inspiration that I gain! With a short holiday from work these are sure to distract me from focusing on building this little dream. Maybe, I'll just make them bedtime treats...something to snuggle up with and savour...

Yes, they must go from my desk...I really can't help stopping to read them!
